I have a large garden, and they're filled with worms. I let my chickens roam around, and they go absolutely nuts for those worms. They gobble them up in an instant. Why do they like worms? They eat them alive, and aren't they just filled with soil?

Worms are prime food! It's in their DNA to recognize worms as they dig in the soil, which is also inborn behavior.

It's like we humans are programmed by our DNA to recognize a cheese burger when we see it, and not many of us are going to turn it down.
