I bought 6 chickens at an auction 3 pullets and 3 early layers, my babies were instantly showing signs of illness within 24 hours. I separated them from the other birds and saw on here that I could give them
 
Welcome, sorry about your new additions. Hope you quarantined them from the existing flock.

And hope you can get some help from the seller.

Sick birds from an auction seems to happen quite a bit from what I've read on BYC. I'm sorry it's happened to you and also hope you had them isolated from your existing flock. It's not always easy to tell an ill bird from a healthy one and very easy to pass along illnesses and pests.

Please post in the emergency/illness forum for some assistance with the sick birds if you have questions.

Give them? Sounds like you didn't finish. What signs of illness did you see? If you separated them from the other birds,your other birds have already been exposed and may need preventative treatment. You should always quarantine new birds when you first get them.
 
I bought them all together- but different flocks. They are quarantined and I am continuing meds. Seems to be working slowly. Eyes were the major symptoms- verry infected and bubbly - I will keep them on it for another week or so! Hope this won't effect eggs or liver of the chickens when they age a bit! Thanks y'all

If you happen to loose one it would be very wise and very helpful to you to get a necropsy done by your state's poultry pathology lab. Or take a live one to an avain vet if you can fine one and have some testing done. There are many diseases chickens can get, some are much worse then others in terms of how often they recur and how hard they are to manage. Even after they recover your birds will be carriers with the potential to infect any new birds or chicks you get later. Length of carrier status depends on what they have. Knowing what you are dealing with here will help you know best how to treat it and manage it long term, and if you even want to do so. With some diseases it's best to depopulate and start over rather then take what could be a long term, ongoing problem.

I would also avoid poultry auctions like the plague in the future, just for this very reason. Just the thought of setting foot in those places gives me the heebie jeebies lol.

Sounds like they have sinus infections probably caused by MG. They will be carriers for life,and will affect eggs. I have sinus infections in one now and had another one 3 wks ago. I decided to treat and keep,vs cull them all and start over. I read that 75-89% of all chickens are carriers. Also it doesnt even seem to matter where you get them,whether you hatch out your own, from a harchery of get chicks from a feed store. If you want to breed out your own stock, hatch rates can be affected as well. I figured i will just keep mine for eating eggs,and treat if they show symptoms.
