Silki hen or rooster?

post #1 of 8

I was told she was a hen but upon reading more about silkis I am not sure.... She/he seems to have streamers and a pretty large comb. But I am yet to hear him/her crow or see him chase around any hens. She/he is quite shy and to herself.

Looks like a rooster to me.

Always happy to answer questions! You can ask me about diseases, raising chicks, feeding, and breeds!

Darn! Haha, any ideas why he never crows or even looks at the hens ? Haha

If he's still young it might take him a while to start crowing and being interested in the ladies. I once had a rooster that didn't crow until he was almost a year old!

There's hope in front of me,

There's a light, I still see it

There's a hand still holding me,

even when I don't believe it

He will cover you with his feathers,

  and under his wings you will find refuge;
      his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart
.

Rooster.

Breeder of Dutch bantams, Wyandotte bantams, and a few exhibition rabbits.

Feel free to ask me questions about chicken and rabbit care, breeds, and showing! I'm always happy to help!

And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts."
