She lived with two other hens and a rooster until one morning we found her in the coop, her legs ripped up a bleeding. We assumed that either the rooster (who can be rather aggressive) or one of the hens had injured her. After her legs were washed and bandaged, she seemed to be doing fine.
For a couple weeks she lived in a cage by herself and ate and drank as normal, except she was hopping around on one leg and spent a lot of time standing around with her head hunched in. Then today my sister and I picked her up and removed her bandages. I assumed that now that the bandages were off, she would be able to walk properly, but when I put her down she continued to hop.
Then I felt her leg all over, and I noticed that she didn't like having it handled, especially when I tried to move it. I also saw that her hip was sticking out. I compared it to her other hip and saw that it was definitely protruding further out than the other. Then I felt it again and felt something on the top of what should have been her socket that felt softer than it should have and was shaped like the end of a bone.
I worry that she has a condition that is un-fixable. I don't want to have to put her down. It you know of any solutions, please let me know!
