Thank you! I think he is absolutely adorable. My husband says he looks like a bowling ball running around our yard.
I have 8 full sized pullets and he is a bantam. He has never tried anything with my girls and only crows occasionally. I'm thinking he is pretty young. Oh, and he doesn't have full Spurs yet either.
He doesn't have clearly visible male saddle feathers yet, so he's probably only about 10 to 14 weeks. Spurs usually don't start to develop until after 6 months, and some cockerels never get them.
@junebuggena do you think it is a bantam Cochin? You really seem to know chickens! I'm very new to this. It truly doesn't matter too much as I'm not planning to breed him. I'm just curious.
What a gorgeous bird!! Lucky you, for being able to rescue him. He would have a lot of takers here. Hard to know if he is a bantam when he's not near a full sized cochin for scale.
This is him with my girls (not bantam) and my Schnoodle, who may also think she is a chicken!!
Does this help?
He is significantly smaller than my girls.
