We got a package from MissPrissy - What could it be???

Quote:
You can start it with a package of yeast and about 1/2 c. warmish water. Not hot. Add that and leave sit covered loosely on your counter top.

I don't refrigerate mine. I leave it on the counter. It developes a wonderful flavor and actually is much milder than a normal 'sour dough' taste.

Ask AussieSharon. yesterday she had some chocolate brownie type bread I make from it.

PC - My turkeys were giant sized. Come see -

Thank you very much for the instructions.

Yes, thank you! I've been going through yeast like crazy ever since I've been on my little bread baking spree. This would be great if I can get it to work!

MissP - is this the same thing they used to call "Friendship Bread" way back when?

I received something like this years ago and it was the BEST stuff ever....

If it is, I'm going to have to start some of my own and freeze it/share it with the neighbors

Is there nothing you cannot do?

There are all kinds of names for it. I did not start mine with prepackage yeast like those starters nor did I get i from someone else. I captured mine wild from the blue ridge mountain air of Va.

You can do it from potato water, the white film on fresh cabbage and grapes, etc.

Our's is growing in the kitchen. I wish we had a good microscope so
we could watch it.

It's almost like having a yeast brooder. Is it ok to talk to your yeast?
Does it want love?

I have made starter before, it's really neat and was a great learning experience for the kids.
