So I have 3 hens two Cochins and one sebright. They are roughly 7 months old. I originally got two se bright chicks but one ended up being a rooster it was very obvious loud crowing looked exactly like a regular sebright rooster and we have a rooster ordnance so I had to re home it. My two Cochins just started laying in the last two weeks and I have yet to see a egg from our sebright..well all of the sudden today in the yard she started to crow. She has no features of a rooster at all. Could this just be a one time thing is she/he a late bloomer is it even possible that it could be a rooster? Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. I would hate to re home her!

Sebright hens do have a tendency to crow because of their more "aggressive" nature. I've had a sebright mix pullet that crowd, but she only did it once. However, because sebright roosters have hen-feathering it could be a rooster with a small comb (though that isn't very likely).
Probably she'll settle down once she starts laying, though it varies with the individual.

If you post a picture of her we can know for sure (or at least guess)

I hope this helps!

I

I have a sebright pullet who is about 13 weeks and I swear she crowed this morning! I would love to see pics of your hen, Queenofthebirds. And has she crowed any more since then?
