I am building a first aid kit and I have looked everywhere on what kind and brand of clippers to get to have on hand for damaged beaks and nails. Every where says get dog clippers. What size? What brand is recommended? I don't want them to be dull. Also a sharp pair of scissors for cutting wattles and combs. I had to dub a chicken from an injury and I am not sure what brand of scissors to buy and type. Thanks for any information!

For trimming nails I use a dog nail trimmer, I like a regular sized one, not the small ones, any brand and either type works, so get what you are comfortable with, I recommend some kwik stop in case you bleed them. I have used a horse hoof nipper for rooster spurs. I would buy a Fiskar scissors, probably the smaller ones they sell for cutting hair, they're pretty sharp.

I have exactly the same clippers and scissors for use on my chickens as oldhen. Only I have the full size Fiskars to operate on combs. Nice sharp dog nail clippers that fit your hand comfortably is what you want.
