Do chicken eggs sell?

I sell my eggs at a farmers market where I sell my homemade jams & jellies. There are 3 vendors that sell eggs and we all sell out quickly. I have 13 layers & usually bring 8 dozen a week. We;re selling the eggs for $5 a dozen. I recently went to a market in a more upscale area of town & their eggs are $6 a dozen.

BTW, when I've sold out, customers will frequently ask me to hold a dozen eggs for them next week. I only do this if they pay in advance for them. I've had too many folks ask me to hold eggs & then don't show up.

I do have a pretty good surplus built up so should do fine the 5 I have are pretty unflappable so should still see my 5 a day till the pullets start to lay

I started selling 4$ dozen at work, because I had too many eggs this past fall, now, my girls cannot keep up with the requests! I have told people at work that my family comes first and I can bring eggs when Inhave them. I have noticed my children are eating way more eggs than they used to as well!

How do you sell to the farmers market? Any rules or procedures you have to follow?

During the middle of our summer, we have 24 hours of daylight. That encourages them to lay. Not twice a day, 2 eggs a day. That lasts about 4 weeks, then they lay less. I feed them greens daily and they have plenty of room. Happy hens, lots of eggs. My hens are also in their prime. In a couple of years, I'm sure it will decrease. In the coldest part of winter when it is dark, they stop laying completely. In the summer, it's like they're making up for lost time.

I sell jams & jellies at a local farmers market. Whenever I have extra eggs I bring them with me. With 13 layers I have extras every week. With Louisiana laws, since they are being sold directly to the end user, there are no regulations covering them. Almost all of the farmers markets in the area have someone selling eggs. I did have to ask the market coordinator if it was OK to sell eggs. Since backyard eggs are in such high demand, she said it was OK. Here;s a pic of my table. The eggs are on the right.

Ha ha! It's gotten to the point with mine that I just bring them in on Monday and let people know I have them. They pull out their wallets, pay, and then come by the office to pick them up. They even bring back my cartons for me!

Going down to 5 bards that are old enough and lay every day buying
the pullets I am down to 11 so have a bit of wait on them still as they are
just starting to feather out on their wings
