jealous chicken

I think I went overboard trying to make my chicks friendly! One of my Golden Stars gets jealous whenever I pick up another chicken( they are five months  old today.  This afternoon I was holding the Silkie, and "STAR" the Golden jumped up onto my shoulder which she has done before, but when I didn't put down the Silkie "STAR" pecked my eye!! OUCH !!!!  Luckily she hit the lower lid, which is now swollen. I'm thinking about trimming her wings, or at least not talking to her for awhile!!!

That's why I don't get too friendly with my chickens, they end up thinking you are a part of the flock and will often try to dominate or correct your behavior, I would shove her down next time and not allow them on your shoulder, and I wouldn't allow any pushy behavior, things like taking food out of your hands is what a dominant bird does to a subordinate, you were very lucky.

Chickens and dogs are healing to the soul.

I brake for squirrels.

Some of my birds.
