Baby chicks arrived!!

Thread Starter
Just got 17 new chicks in mail yesterday, hatched on Feb 1. Ordered 4 silver laced Wyandotte, 4 barred rock, 4 australorp, and 3 Americana. There were 2 extras thrown in from hatchery, one of them looks totally different than all the others. It is a uniform brown color, and it's legs are all brown, where the others legs are all yellow. Is it possible this is a little roo of some sort??? I actually would like for it to be as I have no rooster now.

It definitely could be a rooster. It's common hatchery practice to add boys to fill out the shipping box. You can post pictures to see if anyone can identify the breed.

The extras thrown in are often referred to in the hatchery industry as "packing peanuts" and they are by design males.

yes,  that's how little value ,hatcheries consider males = packing peanuts
