Help! I need to sex these barred Plymouth rocks!

That's what I was leaning towards. I was hoping to have 2 hens but my five year old is begging to keep the rooster. Any thoughts on if I should with only one hen? And we only have a small coop, suitable for two chickens. Would that work?

If you can only keep two birds, I would not use that space with a rooster. I'd plan to get rid of the cockerel whenever you're comfortable doing so (earlier is better) and buying a sexed pullet to replace him. You'll have double the egg production, and an all-hen flock of that size is much more harmonious. Your child is a child and does not understand animal management. I doubt feelings are going to be kindly toward that cockerel in 4-5 months when he starts wanting to mate that solitary pullet and she's still too immature, but his only sexual outlet. That will be quite distressing toward your child, and likely yourself. Girls are best for tiny flocks and new chicken owners.

Hi guys! I'm very new to this site and chicken Owning but I'm hoping someone could tell me what sex my chickies are? I keep going back and forth on what what they are based off of what you all said determined the sex but I feel I can't be certain.
