Hi everyone. I am wondering if by my picture here you could assist me in figuring out what this is on our new Dominique Rooster.
We've had him for 1 week and he's still being quarantined so it's not from fighting. I've read up on fowl pox and it doesn't look like the pictures to me.
When we got him from his last owner she told us she believed he had some frostbit on his wattle (at the bottom right). That's fine. It's cold here, but we both didn't think it was cold enough for frostbite. We're in the mountains of NC. It can get below zero but doesn't stay too long. Average temps are about 20-30 degrees maybe. I didn't notice it on the left before but it looks like a little there too now. He is housed in our barn so he is protected from drafts & such.
The bigger issue I noticed today was black spots on his comb. Hopefully the photo helps. We have 3 hens sex links & leghorn and they don't appear to have any frostbite or any spots on them. We will be introducing them soon so I need to make sure he's not sick.
Thanks for any assistance!
