how long for fertility???

i was wondering i've had my hens on laying pellets. and recently have come in to ownership of a rooster. how long will it take for the laying pellets to get out of there system and there eggs become fertile...?? want some baby chiks...

I would think that your eggs should be fertile after a couple of weeks.  You can always test for fertility by incubating some eggs for 4 days to a week and then candling them to see if there is an embryo developing. I am confused as to your reference to laying pellets and fertility. Laying mash/pellets does not hamper fertility; unless you are using some kind of pellet I am not familiar with.
