So I went out to put my ducks in their coop tonight and my female Runner/Pekin was laying down with her wings spread on the ground. When I got close she started flopping around and it was obvious she couldn't stand or walk. I thought she may have been attacked by an animal but there's no blood on her anywhere and her legs don't appear to be broken. I checked her webbs too and I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I'm going to take her to the vet as soon as possible but I was curious if anyone else has seen anything like it.:(

@DucklingLovee how old is your duck and is there any possibility she may have gotten into something toxic animal or mineral like standing stagnant water or dead animal or other types of toxins? Is she laying age when did she lay last?

How is she now?

She's a little better now, she's walking but she's really wobbily and looks like she's having a hard time. She's going to be a year in May and she hasn't laid yet. There is a possibility she could have gotten into some stagnant water, I'd never even thought about that.

There are flushes you can do to help rid her system of a toxin. They have to be followed just like directed. Some of us have had good results from using Activated Charcoal, It can be found in the antacid isle at pharmacy or Walmart .Make sure to dump any water that has been standing for a while bacteria can grow there and can make out flock sick.

Here is the link about flushes https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/750869/raising-and-caring-for-ducklings#post_10611711 I hope she continues to improve.

Please let us know how she is doing.

I have a Khaki Campbell who was injured in a duck stampede at 5 weeks of age. She could not stand for a week and it took her longer to start walking again. I saw it happen so I didnt have to guess why she couldn't stand or walk. Is there a chance something like that happened? Maybe they panicked and she was injured. My duck had no obvious external injuries to her body or legs.
