One of my chickens, who is about 2 years old, has become sick. She has been sick for 7 days now and seemed to start getting better (day 2-3), but now had started going downhill again (day 5-7). I have been doing research based on her symptoms to come to a diagnosis to treat her properly, but have been unsuccessful. She is lethargic and doesn't move much but will stand up. Her tail feathers are tilted down and her wings are dropping. The area on her face around her eyes and beak looks shriveled and scaly. This symptom started within the past 2 days. The second day of being sick her comb was purplish-blue at the edges and shriveled, but this went away within a day after I brought her inside. Her poop is abnormal in that the white part is very loose and there's a cylindrical, relatively solid piece that is brownish-green. She's been eating and drinking some whenever I dip her beak in the water. I have started treating (2 days) Corid for Cocci, but have not seen an improvement yet. I have not seen any blood in her stools, so I'm not sure she has Cocci. I have been giving her greek yogurt and soaking a few pieces of her regular food in it and she will eat a little bit at a time. She's lost weight over the past week from not eating much and feels very light. I've been giving her vitamins in her water as well. I have 5 other chickens which aren't showing any signs of sickness. I would really appreciate any suggests or help with diagnosing her and figuring out a treatment.

did you worm her? she looks a bit skinny. also dark comb can be a sign that she had problems with heart, liver, lungs, etc. you should contact a vet if possible.

I haven't tried deworming her yet. Can I deworm her even though I've been giving her Corid? I haven't seen any worms in her stools.

The only changes in her environment would be the weather. I'm in Northeast FL and its been a warm, wet winter. I would say the temperatures have been more drastic than last year with the highs being in the 80s one week and the next the lows being in the 30s. It's been very wet too.

With her getting so thin and not eating, I started giving her blueberries, strawberries, and kale. She has been eating it and I've just been giving a little at a time. I appreciate any suggestions or advice.

I'm not an expert on worming after given Corid, though hopefully someone will have an answer.

Drastic weather changes like that can really stress out a chicken and make them an easier target for illnesses and diseases. Is there any drainage from the eyes or nose? Does she have a foul smell coming from her beak? Please do excuse all my questions, but there are a lot when it comes to determining a disease.

That sounds good to give her fresh produce. When my chickens start to get a little thin, I put some warm water in their food to create a mush. They love it, and it's a bit easier for their bodies to process that way.

She doesn't have any drainage from the eyes or nose nor does she have a smell coming from her beak. I've felt on her crop at various times during this past week and its not hard or even full. I can see it fill after she eats but it empties after a while. I don't mind the questions at all. I've been trying to research it too and have been checking/looking for symptoms of common diseases and illnesses.

Then I'd say to try a dewormer as a start. Good luck!

Do you have a vet that sees chickens near by? At this point it seems to be a lot of guess work. She does look thin and not sure how long she will be able to hold out. You can try to give her some scrambled eggs. My little chickies love it when they are not feeling well (who am I kidding, they love it all of the time). Anyway it may help her to get some nutrition.
