Only kept GLW & SLW until now, and not all that long. So was out looking around the markets for pairing & picked up this little girl on pure impulse. I have named her Aurora as the orange like colours of her feathers in the sun look as if on flames & then it drops away in gradating shades of charcoal towards her tail. When the wind russels her feathers she has pale greys all underneath also seen in her fluffy seat feathers.

Apart from her feathers catching my eye she has the sweetest little face that I've seen out of any Wyandotte I have or had, it's so dove like.
I've had her around 1 month now & I still can't get over how sweet & pretty she is in comparsion to her sisters or pin down her colouring. It's strange to me as I always thought all my Wyandottes were beautiful but she's a beauty unto herself.

She was bought by a Wyandotte breeder to whom I should have pried more info out of, but as a wild card I was more concerned at the time about talking GLWs. Now, I can't imagine they'd remember her, I'd have to track them down with pics to find out more. So before I go to such lengths can anyone here give me some more idea to background or what they feel her colourings are showing? My first guess was partridge but can only find shades of brown, maybe it's because she is very young... Any help would be appreciated.

I would think Partridge too, but it could be considered a "Cuckoo" type pattern..

I'm not good with feather colors lol, I'm hoping someone who knows for sure will help educate me ;)

Eta: I have a gold laced Cochin/red Star cross that has feathers similar to it, almost a reverse lacing, so I'm curious if it has a proper name lol

I'm not so sure she is a pure bred wyandotte. She could be a mix between colors, she's very pretty, to be sure. But she's not matching any of the bantam wyandotte colorings.

You may be right, or the breeder would have offered up more info at the time. The only thing I remember them saying when I pointed & said,' I like the look of her colouring' was, 'Yes she should be a real beauty'. Shame if not a full Wyandotte as I'd like to keep my small flock all the one breed but she can always settle for being an aunt to her sisters peeps. Have to see how she goes laying.

The breeder apparently is a Wyandotte breeder but I never know what to ask for regarding their credentials if any such thing.
