My chickens have suddenly began laying much more often than they used to, I have rode island reds and they are supposed to lay less often during the shorter days but instead are laying more than ever! Does it maybe have anything to do with my rooster? I am not exactly sure what breed he is, but I know he is a dwarf of some kind. I recently walking into the coop to see him trying to mate with my full grown reds.

It has nothing to do with the rooster. Day length is increasing by several minutes each day, and this has probably sparked the increase in egg production.

Ok thanks, i just wanted to be sure. Also, if i refrigerate the eggs within a few hours of them being layed does that prevent fetuses from forming?

You can leave them on the counter, and development will not start. For the embryo to develop they need to be incubated at temperatures far higher than ambient.
