Welcome to BYC you came to the right place for a wealth of "Fowl" knowledge. Your pea is indeed of the black shoulder variety. Take a bunch of pictures as he grows as he will completely change colors and at around 2yrs old you will be amazed at how much he has turned colors. Black shoulders are gorgeous birds.
