I purchased Plymouth Barred Rock chicks 8 month ago and this one hen, though greatly resembles them, does not look like the rest. She has a lot of green in her stripes. Her tail is more straight up toward the sky, and her comb looks different. Can you tell me what she is? Or is she a Barred Rock? Thank you. All comments welcomed.

I agree when purchasing from a hatchery you can get a wide range of quality and "looks" in the same batch of birds.

However, some of your hens look to have white legs? If that's true, they're probably cuckoo Marans, not Plymouth Rocks. If they're laying, do some lay a darker brown egg? hatchery cuckoos don't necessarily lay the nice chocolate egg, but mine are noticeably darker than a Rock's eggs. That may explain some of the differences you're seeing.

That may well be. I couldn't tell looking at the photos whether the legs were really whitish or just a pale yellow. The lighting seems very poor to me in the photos. I would like to see some pics in good sunlight.
