new size or will it stay the same?

We have RIR's that lay jumbo size eggs. They won't fit in an XL egg carton.

Last spring we rescued a chick from a parking lot. It ended up being a Heavy Cornish Cross.

He fertilized one or more of the RIR's and we hatched out four chicks. They ended up having white feathers with a few black/gray mottling, and red ears.

These hens have started laying (16 eggs so far). All of them are extra small. It takes two and a half to three to equal an RIR egg.

Are these mutt hens going to continue to lay small eggs or will they eventually get larger?

The RIR's started out laying size large and got larger.

From my experience, you younger ones will begin to lay gradually larger eggs. I also have a hen that lays whoppers - many of which are double yolkers - she has only been laying for a couple of months and i hope for her sake that she begins to lay more regular sized eggs!
