~Shipped Egg Early Spring Hatch-a-Long~

My shipped eggs are doing about as well as FarmerMacs.

My araucauna hatched this morning. Looks good! (wasn't shipped, was from a local store)

One Marans egg is chirping, so there is some hope there. We are on day 23... I floated the remaining eggs, there are 2 other BCM that I am holding out for, but it looks like all the Cornish have been lost. So, out of 23 shipped eggs, I have one that might make it, maybe 3 at best.

I'm off today to find a friend for my little chick. He is so lonely in the bator now I hope the another hatches soon!

Well its been an eventful 24h.

I was able to find 3 Isa Brown chicks to befriend my Aracauna chick. And while I was out picking them up, we had a BCM hatch! The 2 new babies went in the box this morning with the others and are doing great. Amazing!

I floated the eggs again this AM, all appeared dead/non-moving. So I decided to bust them open and take a look. 2 of them were fully formed, malpositioned, fully absorbed yolk... I'm regretting not doing this yesterday. All these eggs had weird air cells. But, surprise surprise, the 3rd chick was alive. I decided to manually hatch it at this point because I'm pretty sure its otherwise going to be a lost cause. its also malpositioned. But, membrane is ruptured, its breathing ok, so I put it back in the bator for a bit.

I'm so mad that I didn't act sooner on the other 2. No pips, nothing, but the way they were crammed in there I don't think there is any way they could have reached the shell. But, all prevailing good advice says to leave them be... kinda ****** if you do, ****** if you don't!

If I set eggs the feb 19 but didnt turn them for 24 hours is the hatch date the same or a day later? I have an egg one out of 12 that was due two days ago. When do I toss it? Since I dont for seeing it hatch.
