She lost all her back feathers and I now have another chicken loosing her back feathers. She started laying this week, are the eggs okay to eat?
what is it and what do I do??? New at this chicken stuff

The eggs are okay to eat. are there any feathers laying about in the coop? You may have a feather eater in your flock. Also how much space per hen do you have? They could b getting board.
If they are eating feathers, they may be over-crowded or lacking enough protein. If they are pulling out their own feathers it could be mites. https://poultrykeeper.com/external-problems/depluming-mites/

we have 7 chickens in a 10'x7' coop...so I don't think they are over crowed. I do see loose feathers in the coop and hen house. I will have to keep on eye out and see if she is picking them out herself. Thanks for the help.
