The chicks I don't, but if I was it would be after they were about grown! The hens as soon as they are removed.

Keep in mind that I am a breeder----no mixed flocks and no young with old. Now that I have slowed down for a little while---I might mix my breeds of hens and let them free-range some----separate again if I start back hatching.

Sorry, I forgot, but is this your first hatch?

I will say that the suspense and excitement hasn't changed for me, even after dozens of hatches!  :D
