Hands on hatching and help

Remember the mystery eggs I 'had' to set with my sultans? One hatched just now and they are indeed AC eggs. Glad I set them, lol. I also have a pip on one of the sultan eggs and hope to have my first sultan in the morning.

Nice! Congrats!

Hey guys. My two assist are not growing much. They are very healthy and active but so small. If it weren't for the other silver one being normal size I would think they were bantams. Is this normal for chicks that need a little help. The other chick is already twice their size.

I have a pullet that was an assist that was quite a bit smaller in the early weeks too. She's still a little more petite than her hatch mates but it's not drastic like it was. I think since she hatched later and was so tired she ended up at the bottom of the pecking order and didn't get the groceries the others got.

They are 12 weeks old now. She's the one in the back

Starting to think ours are gonna be a more petite/bantum size also

It's strange isn't it? I almost wonder if they might have accidentally sent us bantam eggs along with normal ones lol.

Yeah I just moved them out of the brooder with 5 other chicks. They have been in a big brooder with lots of chicks. They do well and act just as feisty as the others but I've been wondering if they were eating enough. After moving them to the smaller brooder they do seem to be doing better. I don't want them seperated to long though. I'm concerned if we wait till later then we might have integration issues that we won't have now if they are brooded together..

Sounds like with less competition at the feeders they might catch up on their growth a little. If they're the same age as the other chicks and everyone is still young you may not have any issues reintroducing them to the larger group.

Cool shades of silver&grey. They are neat looking

Thanks!

They're Blue Marans- some of the very few females from that hatch lol.

I just checked my 6 polish eggs and only one seems to be developing. It's really frustrating cause I know they weren't shipped right away. Looks like none were fertile from the start except one. It's only day 5 though so I'll give it more time. I need some hens for my polish rooster though lol. He only has one and I'm sure soon there are going to be some issues. Finding polish bantam hens is so hard for some reason. :/

Yeah that's been my problem. Lf seem to me a little more popular. I love my bantam boy so much though. He is my favorite lol. I've looked everywhere but can't seem to find any. Even mpc was sold out. I finally found some hatching eggs on ebay and this is my luck lol..

Are you wanting to breed just for bantam? I mean, if you don't care you could give him some lf ladies, those bantam boys usually do just fine with bigger girls, lol...
