Welcome to BYC, Mike. Glad you decided to join our flock. You have a beautiful flock. Thanks for posting the pics. If you have any predators in your area (dogs, coons, foxes, cats, weasels, rats, snakes, etc.) I would strongly suggest either replacing or covering that chicken wire with hardware cloth as these predators can easily tear through chicken wire, or squeeze through the openings in the mesh. It will be some added expense but it's cheaper than replacing your flock. There's a good article at http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2013/07/11-tips-for-predator-proofing-chickens.html on predator proofing your flock. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have decided to join us. Its a great looking coop you have there! I wish you all the best on your new chicken adventure and i hope that you enjoy being a BYC member as much as the rest of us.

all the best

Agree wholeheartedly with Michael. 1/2" hardware cloth is pretty much the Gold standard, for predator protection - costs more, lasts much longer and keeps raccoons from reaching or biting through (poultry wire) and snacking on any chicken part they can grab.

Thanks everyone for the support and ya hardware cloth would be more ideal and thanks for the throat I've been looking for some more CA people to meet :Dthanks a lot everyone:D
