Whiting True Blue info

My True Blue Whitings were 5 months old yesterday, and I got my first blue egg today -- a pale light blue. I agree with most of you regarding the temperament of these birds -- they have crazy wild personalities. I won't be getting any more.

I am very disappointed, very very disappointed! They are not the color as advertised and the eggs while they did start laying very young are staying very small. Also they're barely light blue. I did get a couple double yokers that were bloody. I'm just very disappointed after the work I went through to get them. I've never seen a pullet egg stay the same size for 6 months! I don't know you can't trust anything these days. I have a bunch for sale if anybody wants any, LOL

I know this post is old, but are the whiting's bantams by chance? I have one and she is 9 weeks old. She is significantly smaller then my other pullets that are younger then her. I've been hoping she was a bantam and not "failing to thrive". Thanks!!

^^^One of mine did not grow well either. At 8 weeks she was half the size of the others. I didn't notice her being smaller than the others as very young chicks. I would have thought she was the mystery chick except she looked like 7 of the other WTBs pullets that she came with except for her size. I lost her a few days ago. She was fine at lock in but my morning she was dead. It was probably for the best as I free range and I didn't think a bantam would las long once turned loose.

How old did she live to?
