Female Rouen Duck May be eggbound "PLEASE HELP!!"

Hello,

I went outside to do my annual day feeding of the Ducks and chickens, and I noticed that one of our hens was puffed up, and putting her weight on her belly, and her behind was up, and tail down. She was also walking like a penguin, I did read on another thread on here about a chicken Who had basically the exact same problems. Her Poop is almost like the white of the egg, all glossy White and thick. She is eating and drinking like normal, she is all puffed up and is now in a crate on our porch. She has been doing small quacks.

Any help would be appreciated:)

Thanks, Fam316

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Hi I'm not a vet but I love ducks, especially rouens. I would get her straight to a specialist, the sooner the better because my chicken was egg bound but we left it too long and she was put to sleep. The sooner u get her to a specialist the more of a chance the poor babbas got

Well, I read that we could buy some sort of medication that might help her with the egg, if there is an egg

There are threads about dealing with egg binding.

The general idea is that if you can get to a vet, do.  In the meantime and in any case, get the duck into lukewarm water she can float in.  Let her float for around an hour.

And give her extra calcium.  I am not a vet, I don't know the exact best amount, but some have given a Tums (I think that has about 400 mg of calcium in it).  You might also give a crushed calcium citrate tablet - mine has 250 mg calcium.

See if you can gently, without crushing an egg, feel around the vent and belly to see if you can feel an egg.
