Hey There!

Hello!

Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to join the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC.

Ok , small update ...since i've posted last i've had two more hens go broody....first I saw the Orpington going on walk abouts and i thought maybe she's over it. Then when I went to check in the box found that the Isa brown was sitting on the eggs....this morning I saw both the orpington and the isa brown outside and i thought oh well....they've both abandoned the eggs...checked the box and realised the silver spangled hamburg was laying on them. I am delighted that my hens are going broody, but I will probably have to seperate them eventually so I don't end up with a massive flock of broody hens as I also want eggs. Still quite happy I don't have to muck around with incubators and such.

EDIT: No more broody hens....all eggs were abandoned and now its back to incubator :(

Hey Guys, Just thought i'd throw in an update since I haven't check in for a while. Candled the chicken eggs the other day and success we have movement! so they're still alive and probably due to hatch soon! can't wait for my first batch, exciting stuff

My Orpington hatched out guinea eggs just fine :) We don't have a rooster, but most of my hens are broody if you let them so my mom would bring down her guinea eggs for her to set on. Guineas were the only chicks she ever got to hatch out. Hopefully your quails will do okay as well!

More Quails and Chooks hatched from the Incubator. Turns out the eggs that the Orp was sitting on were still ok after not having sat on them for 2 days. Lucky I was able to source that incubator quick as I did.

Can someone please help me identify my rooster, i don't know what breed he is but he looks like some game breed I think
