My CCL cockerel got bullied out of the coop last night, and I think maybe out of food for a few days, found him this morning chilled to the bone and lethargic, I stuffed him in my jacket, took him inside( he gets a bath every few weeks and some scrambled eggs, and is handled daily) and slowly started to warm him over an hour with a warm soak, he drank a little sugar water on his own, after the soak I put him in warm towels and blow dried him with a hair dryer, he was still cold to the touch despite all this as his core was still chilled, I kept giving him drops of warm sugar water from a dropper as long as he still was swallowing, he seemed to be getting more and more lethargic, got to the point where he lost all muscle control amd wouldn't open his eyes either, and any time he would try to move his head would go back or to the side and legs would kick out, his breathing got really shallow and his heart beat slowed, he went completely limp and stopped breathing, I did mouth to beak, he started breathing again and I just kept monitoring him and kept him under the blanket with me with the blow dryer to keep him a good temperature( did this once he was completely dry) it had been 4 hours, he started to try to move his head again and didn't have control, so he would throw his head to the side and back and kick his legs out, he slowly got control over the next hour and was responding more, he got more sugar water dropped in his mouth and he took it, slowly progressing more and more, he was able to drink the water on his own, I made up some scrambled eggs with cayenne and offered it to him and he ate a bit, i went down stairs to the wood burning stove to keep him warm better, been 7 hours since I found him. Offered more eggs and he finished off two and drank more, I sat him on a puppy pad and he pooped(yay!) then went back under the blankets to snuggle. He has been alert and able to eat for a while now, it's been 11 hours since I found him this morning, he doesn't want to stand a whole lot, but I'm guessing it's because he is weak. I'm just worried about any neurological problems that might pop up, drinking and eating wise he doesn't seem to have the best depth perception, though before this he was always a eager eater anyways... I dunno... He just ate some pellets and drank a bit more, still alert and such.
