Not sure if this is nationwide or not but I was at Lowes today buying materials for my coop build. I checked the price of Smartside from Menards, as Lowes wanted $28.00 a sheet. To my surprise Menards had it on sale for $19.99 WITH an $8.00 rebate per sheet, final price $11.99. Lowes would not match the rebate price but they did match the $19.99 plus an additional 10% so I got it for $17.00 a sheet. I did not need a whole bunch of it so it was not worth the hassle to me to drive to Menards. If anyone is building or planning to build I think $11.99 a sheet is a great deal. I spoke with a few builders who have used Smartside on sheds and they liked it. For those who have not seen it here is what I observed. The sheet is OSB board designed like a T1-11. The inside of the board looks just like OSB and the outside has some type of resin on it and is primed and ready for paint. So besides it being cheaper then the T1-11 on sale it will save on the cost to paint as well.
If all goes as planned I will be framing the coop next Saturday, I will post some pics. I am building a basic 6x8 shed design with either a 7 or 8 foot roof, tall enough for me to get into.
