Help!!! Chickens foot is stiff and unusable!

Help!!!! I have been treating one of my chickens for sour crop. I've been out over and over checking on her. I went out a little while ago and it appears she's not using one of her feet!!! It's almost like it's frozen. It's hard and not moving, she was lifting it and stumbling a little with just the use of one foot!!! Our temps here are very cold today, like 15-18 degrees! Could it actually be frozen? What should I do?! Help!!!!

What color is chicken's skin? Frostbite color can vary from a light redish to black. I would take the chicken affected inside and put a warmed towel over it. Try not to touch the leg in question, as you could accidently break the skin if it is frozen.

A chicken would be affected in the leg if it stepped into water and the water froze the flesh. If you have hanging water bowls, this wouldn't be a problem.

It may be frostbite. Treat with a warm towel indoors. Don't touch the affected area, as you could rupture the skin. If your waterers are down low, then the chicken probably stepped in the water and froze the surrounding tissue.

I would warm her up, it always breaks my heart to see any of my chickens too cold.  Is she very active and is she eating? Chickens are like little furnaces, if they don't eat enough they can get too cold.
