Need breed and gender help....

Dramatically larger size, extremely glossy back and shoulder feathers, darker shade of red on the shoulder/wing area are all indications of a cockerel. Judging by the saddle feathers, just beginning to emerge on the back, I'm guessing the age is closer to 12 to 14 weeks.

At that age, it should be a pullet.

It's got something Red in the ancestry, but I'm not sure it's Rhode Island. Those white legs could mean she's mixed with Orpington, but that usually gives a brighter orange colored bird. I'd just call her a red brown egg layer.

I believe that is a mixed breed pullet. She's very pretty.

Pullet but unsure of breed, RIR & maybe Orpington (donrae) cause she looks "fluffy"....Pretty coloring. Need a better pix of the black one...

Here are a few more photos, including one of the little gal I do not know the breed. She is very small but has pretty coloring.

The little black one looks like a cochin bantam pullet, possibly a cochin bantam cross. The red one seems more like a pullet to me....But I'm not positive. The comb makes it seem like a rooster, but the feathers seem a bit hen-like, but I can't see the back....But the black one looks like a cochin bantam pullet..My profile picture is of my black cochin bantam hen. Her name is Frazzle
