Hi all I am new to this but my bf and I want to start this new experience by getting about 8 easter layers any advice you all can give us would be great

EE are fun birds, they're each a bit different looking one from the other and of course, they have those mystery eggs (what color will each one lay). They're also nice tempered from my experience with them.

Getting your coop ready before you get the chicks will make life easier for you. Be sure you build it large enough for the birds (they hate being crowded) and making it tall enough for you to stand in will make it easier to keep up. Allow for plenty of ventilation to keep the chickens healthy and comfortable. And make it as predator proof as you can, lots of things like chicken dinners.

If you plan to confine ranging with a fence, build it tall - I recently witnessed one flying quite high over a 5 foot fence

. The breeders raise several breeds and told me the EE's are the only one's who can be real "escape artists".
