Holy cow! She laid an egg in the cage this morning!!

After giving her a bath last night to clean her up, we found some bruising on the thigh of the leg she is favoring. This would also help to explain why she is limping.

We have scheduled an appointment with the vet just to make sure she is still healing properly and we didn't miss anything. But I'm taking this as a positive sign.

Sounds good!

Praise the Lord! Took the bird to the vet this am. The vet said that she is one lucky chicken. The wounds are not infected, the skin will just grow back together (though slowly), there are no other injuries.

The only thing she said was to not use Neosporin (non pain killing type) because the oils in the Neosporin affect their feathers. She gave me an avian soothing cream instead.
But other than a slow healing process, she looks good!

Thanks for all of your help and advice!

Glad to hear she is on the mend!

Interesting about the Neosporin, I know it should never have the "caine" or pain killer in it, but have never heard of the oils affecting the feathers. I will have to keep that in mind. I'm glad she was able to recommend and avian cream. Do you mind sharing what that is, so we can have that for future reference in the forums. I understand it most likely has to be prescribed by a vet, but that may help others be able to ask for it
