Duck coop - working with a barn to make it

We need to add wire fencing. The stable is open from about 4 or 5 feet all the way to the vaulted ceiling. Should we use 1/4" mesh? There is a turnout that I thought we would put some netting like they do for fruit trees.

I'm know we have coyotes and eagles, plus the usual predators.

The last time I kept ducks I didn't have a nesting box, just a big coop that they went into at night. Do they like individual boxes? We made an approximately twin sized "bed" to fill with litter and straw. The other 1/2 of the stable would be for food and water.

I'm not worried about the cold. Mild winters.

I find that half inch metal hardware cloth - 16 gauge - is pretty effective.

For many ducks, a nesting box is not something they use.  They do often, however, seem to like corners, so I put a few 2ft x 2ft plywood panels at right angles to the wall so they can make their own nests in the bedding.
