I tried to incubate a guine egg, candled pictures were crap. Maybe the dark shell did it? But these are not as bad, but still, not great.

Anyway, so it looks like the incubator isn't turning right? I have a Brinsea Octagon 20.

But, the embryo isn't centered. Will this be lethal if it comes near full term? I heard it isn't always or sometimes it is. But I don't want to incubate it for it to just die a painful death.

There is an apparent ring, not sure if that looks like a blood ring or not, but the heart (?) Is still beating.

Also, the egg has lost about 5 grams since incubation started.

That doesn't look like a blood ring to me, the fact that their looks to be plenty of big healthy vessels tells me it's still alive! I have several eggs in the incubator right now that look just like that. No advice about the stuck embryo though, sorry. I'm sure someone with more experiance will pipe up soon!:)

I would check to see if the incubator is properly turning them, or if this egg is in a spot that is keeping it from being turned. It actually looks like a normal hand turned egg. If you turn it so the other side is up you will see the development resurface on the opposite side. Is that the only egg that looks that way?

No matter how you turn the gg, the vessels are stuck to the egg.

I candled it further and it looks like the embryo itself is NOT anchored directly.

I see the incubator turn like 180 degrees, BUT I have the egg in between dividers to prevent rolling across the incubator.
