Chicken Necropsy Photos - Is this tumors?

I lost my girl Lucy this morning, whom I hand-raised from a baby. I had her for a few years and she was a sweetheart, but I suspected something might have been wrong with her. Chickens are so good at hiding issues, though. I necropsied her today and found this:



After a while, I found more--about 5. I cut the large one that I found first open and it just seemed like it was the same throughout. Weird. Here's a pic of that and some of the others, as well as some of the organs. This was my first time, so I'm afraid I didn't get photos of every single thing, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen this before, and if they are tumors?

It looks to me like she had salpingitis. There is a good article by TheChickenChick on salpingitis if you Google it. Those are not tumors, but lash eggs or so called pus eggs.

You know---I ran across that article, read it and looked at the photos, and thought that myself. Only, would that mean that she was an internal layer? I didn't gather that lash eggs could be laid internally.
 
I'm only learning about reproductive disorders myself. The Merck Veterinary Manuals has some very brief articles about many of those disorders, such as internal laying, egg yolk peritonitis, salpingitis, and false layer syndrome that you may be interested in reading. There can be many causes of salpingitis, but from what I have read bacteria can work it's way up into the oviduct from the vent. Sorry for your loss.
 
Thank you, she was a good girl. I'll take a look around for those articles and educate myself better. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.

Do you happen to know if there is a concern with my other chickens? I'm sure they have all been exposed to the same bacterias, but I'm thinking that may not mean that my other girls will get salpingitis as well, necessarily. Am I on the right track do you think?
