Hi everyone! I've been lurking on this site for awhile, but finally decided to post something.

There might be edits to make it easier to read (like bolding and italics)

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I'm not really new to chickens, but my current flock I got May 30th/June 1st 2015. I don't have years of experience with chickens but I've got some xP. I've probably raised over 200 chicks (not all at the same time xD) I've raised Cornish X meat birds and laying birds.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
51, I just counted yesterday. My technique is to just wait for them to roost and count at night xP
(3) What breeds do you have?
Lots! Black Australorps, Asian Blues, Easter Eggers, Light Brahmas, Blue Andalusians, Barred Rocks, White Rocks, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Buff Orpingtons, Porcelain D'uccles, White Black tailed Japanese, Black Japanese, Cochin bantams, Silkies, maybe a Black sexlink, Mille Fleur d'uccle. I've had 'Lorps, SLWs,EEs, Barred Rocks, a blue andalusian, a WBT Japanese, and a silkie rooster before so every other breed is new to me. Australorps have always been my favorite breed because of size, personality, egg production etc etc (Love 'em!) but some new breeds are really growing on me. Like Light Brahmas, and Porcelains.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

I think by a google search.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I crochet, fold origami, fish, collect rocks (my faves are Lake Superior agates, and agates in general), my chickens obviously xP, I make things out of shrink plastic (shrinky dinks lol), and lots more!

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I live with my parents. I own two dogs (a black lab Smoky, and a white lab Blondy). I work overnights at a gas station, so at work I'm affectionately (known as the crazy chicken lady (51 and I want to buy 30 more this year and hatch some of my own out!). I'm quite surprised my birds came into production in November '15, and I STILL tend to get a dozen eggs a day. Oh, and I live in Minnesota, so I'm impressed with my birds! I also tend to "throw" eggs at people ( as in, "TAKE THESE EGGS FROM ME 'CUZ I HAVE 12 DOZ IN MY FRIDGE RIGHT NOW AND THEY KEEEEP LAAAAAYING!!") So like my whole family and co-workers get free or really cheap eggs (like my gramma would love to pay me 2$ a doz for my banty eggs. She says they are the perfect size lol.)

I mostly have hens, and 10 roosters
11 Blk Australorp/Asian Blue/Blk Sex-Link (it's REALLY hard to differentiate between the Asian Blue/sex links. I bought them from Hoovers hatchery and they almost have the same description. If you take enough time you can tell which are 'lorps)
5 EEs (Black Beard, Brown Beard, Coco-Mocha, No Beard, That One Color Bird), 5 SLW (1 roo, was supposed to be a hen but Stew hasn't given me any trouble), 5 Buff Orps, 3 White Rocks, 3 Barred Rocks (1 roo, the only roo I bought on purpose. His name is Ian, as in Ian Gillan from Deep Purple. Of you could here his crow you'd understand! ((the banties are st run only, so even though I'm glad and grateful for my ratios I didn't pick them lol))),3 Porcelain D'uccle (1 Roo), 3 WBT Japanese (1 roo), 3 Silkies (1blk, 1blu, 1blk roo), 3 Cochin bantams (2 Splash roos, 1 Blk roo. The only St. Run that gave me more Roos than hens. Can't complain of 15 bantams I bought..), 2 Blk Japanese (1 roo), 2 Light Brahmas, 2 Splash Andalusians (blue Andalusians of course), and 1 Mille Fleur roo (was my free rare chick from murry mcmurray)
And I have a couple other named chickens; Agatha (Aggie) I think she's a Asian Blue (and she's HUGE, like bigger than my brahma hens.... Nearly as big as Ian my barred rock roo!) and Necklace, I think she's an Asian blue too. Rather than Necklace's entire head having red/brown around (like Aggie) she's got a 'necklace'.

I want to post pics, but I think this post has to be getting long!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You have a very good and thorough introduction and we'd love to see some pics of your flock.) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Hi and welcome to BYC - you seem to have the chicken math bug good and proper!

There are threads on fish and crochet - not sure about rocks - that one might be a little left of field - even for BYC members (who are an eclectic bunch) - anyway, no harm in your starting a thread!

All the best

I hope I don't upload the same pics, but I guess it's a risk I'll have to take. I'm uploading pics straight from my phone

This is "That One Color Bird" I don't know the name of her color, but she's quite interesting. She's come up to my dog Blondy, and pecked the fuzz of her tail (I seen it happen once, but knowing TOCB I'd bet she's done it more than once.) The dogs reaction was priceless, she just turned around and stared with a look on her face like, "you realize I'm a dog I could eat you." (But I can't complain, for two good bird dogs they show more attention to the chickens poo. Blondy has soft mouthed chickens before ...(she was prob two then, and she's eight now lol) They lost feathers and maybe didn't lay the next day, but never broke skin or hurt any.)

Smoky, "Chickens?"

This adorable WBTJ was trying to sit on SIX large eggs.
