First Time Chick Parents, Spring 2016

Or the rubber bubbly shelf liner...otherwise they can get splayed feet on newspaper...it is too slick, they need something their feet can grip onto, with texture...

Newspaper for chicks is like an ice skating rink for us...without the skates....

Thank You for the response
I spoke with a local chicken farmer and they said that the newspaper shouldn't be issue. That their claws should be able to walk on it, but suggested some sugar in the water which will perk chickens up. So then I took all 6 back up to Tractor
supply but they don't have any other chicks and their was one sick chick in the bin when I pick these out, I should of new better:::(
But I went ahead and got some sheddings and electrolye powder for the water vs sugar for now anyway they are already getting medicated baby chick food. So when I got home I had already completely sanitized area and feeder and water container. And I separated, the sickly one away from the others so she is in quarantine now, lol...true nurse here..I am making sure she gets water and food Hourly hoping I can get her back up on her feet and I did put down some sheddings just to cover my bases...Does anyone have any ideas of diseases that would cause this in baby chicks , I have read about Marek's and it kinda sounds like what I'm dealing with but she is younger than the typical age
