First Eggs

We adopted two ducklings last spring that were hatched and raised by the high school ag class. Never had them before so this is all new to us. It took awhile for feathers to turn before we knew we had a male and a female mallard. They are inseperable. We had not seen any eggs until last week. A cold spell hit and we had them in the barn with a heat lamp. We live in South Dakota and they love the snow but we got insanely cold. When it warmed and we we moved that back outside there about 8 eggs in a nest in the corner. Most had frozen. but since then we have found one every day. Will we see this year round from this breed? Should we pull the eggs everyday if we plan on consuming them? Stupid question - but do the ducks get angry if you poach the eggs from them? We are learning!

Is it true that fresh eggs float and spoiled sink?
