Poopy chicken .

Ive got a chicken which has somehow got poop on its back , I managed to get a lot of , but there may still be bits in the roots of the feathers , if I leave it to go off in time will that be ok or will it cause infection ? Is there any good way to realy clean it off the feathers , it is also a very wriggly crazy chicken so it's hard to keep her still .
 
Is the bird in question a chick or a fully -feathered bird? If this is a fully feathered bird leave it alone - the bird itself will clean his/her feathers quite well. This will happen from time to time, especially if your roosts are multi-level or if you have bird who likes to sleep beneath the roost, it's not a problem.
