Hi I was just wondering if ducks will leave your house to go lay eggs and hatch them. I don't think they were caught by predators because exactly 4 (2 pairs) are gone and spring is almost here. I just wanna know if ducks would leave home and go hatch babies elsewhere.

Are there predators in your area? I had two ducks go missing on two separate occasions and later we figured both had died because they never came back. The problem was all fixed by building a run for our birds to make sure they stayed safe through the night.

Only predators we have are coyotes and Eagles. They have a nice run but usually fly off at night. They go hang out around the neighbourhood and come back in the morning. I am just suprised because all 4 birds that can fly very well up high and everything were all killed. It just doesn't add up to me. I feel like their off somewhere laying. Have you heard of ducks leaving and hatching babies?

What kind of ducks? I know the wild ones here are starting to feel the pull to the north, they couldve hitched a ride with a passing flock.

I don't know exactly but they look similar to mallards. Maybe a commercialized mallard breed. I live in Vancouver Canada so I don't see why they would go any further north.

Maybe they found someone else in your neighborhood that provided food or water, like cats. I haven't heard about ducks going off to lay eggs, other people might though.
