Roos - frostbite

Both of our roos have frostbite, and I'm wondering how to know if it's serious. Our cream legbar has it pretty bad on both comb and wattles and they are quite gray. The swelling seems to have gone down. I saw some blu-kote at TSC and I'm thinking I should have snatched it up. How do I know if it's healing or if it's going to make him sick? Does anyone have pictures of what it looks like as it heals and what a bad case looks like, that needs treatment?

Thanks for any advice!

Also, another question...we have a red heat bulb in the coop (though they were exposed to at least one really cold night before we got that up and running), but we do have their water in the coop, which I know can cause humidity/frostbite issues. The run is not covered with a roof, so when it's snowed, it just isn't feasible to keep their water outside of the coop. Are there other waterer options that decrease humidity?
