Farm mama/ crazy chicken lady

Thread Starter
Hi there I am mom of 2 young boys and recently moved to country and have gone chicken crazy the last 3 years. I have only bought chicks from local tractor supply. I have about 60 right now egg layers and bannie mixed. I just bought an incubator a month ago and had my first batch looking great right on track for some reason only one hatched and it sadly didn't make it...
So here I am looking do to more research and try again!

Hi welcome-byc.gif

Glad you could join the flock! I'm sorry to hear you had such a poor hatch hugs.gif
This article is an absolute bible on incubating and hatching ~ http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-101 I always refer to this if I have any problems. It really did get me hooked on incubating and hatching.
Here is another article you may find useful on why your eggs may not have hatched ~ http://www.backyardchickens.com/a/egg-failure-to-hatch-diagnosing-incubation-problems
There are so many things that can affect hatch rates and embryo mortality.

Wishing you the very best of luck for the future. I hope you have great hatches with your future eggs.

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat frow.gif

I set fire to the rain! Watch it pour as I, touched your face. Well it burn while I cried, because I heard it screaming out your name. And I threw us into flames. I knew that was the last time, the last time...I set fire to the rain! -Adele

You may also want to follow one of the "Hatch-along  threads on BYC."   you will find many discussions re: problems that occur and could post some of your own.

Did a moth know that the flame was going to change her life forever, or did she simply fly towards that heated embrace, knowing it would offer her something she couldn't give herself? In the end, the answer didn't really matter. The moth had never wanted the choice. -Joey W. Hill-
