Help with my Mallard - Page 2

She's cute. She is mallard shaped but her face looks like a Rouen to me. Or I haven't seen enough mallards yet. Maybe she doesn't really know what to do as a first time mom.

I used a small flashlight witd LEDs, the aircell is on the round side of the egg so that's where you put the flashlight. If she only sits on them at night I don't think the eggs will develop very much sad.png

I candled them last night and we found 3 that looked like nothing, we tossed them. That still left 17 but we will try again in a couple days and see if they are developing. It has been a little warm, she has been hiding under the house where it is cooler, so maybe she is worried about them overheating.

What did the eggs look like? I'm not sure if the eggs can survive without her brooding on them all day, even if it's warm.

We saw a small spot and a little movement. There was another new egg this morning. We will check them again at the end of the week for any changes.
