Have Conure, Need help

They are gorgeous!!! I love the pictures of them cuddled together. How do you take them outside without them flying away?

I am at a loss with Eclipse. Before my daughter visited my husband gave them all treats every morning and never had a problem. My daughter was only around the birds for 10 minutes tops before Eclipse bit her (was it really a bite? I'll never know...) I'll have to check out AvianAvenue... bottom line is that I really like Eclipse and want everyone else to like him too. I have no idea of age, I'll have to see if the pet shop can give me hatching papers for him too.

On another note, Riot is doing fantastic! She went through a nippy stage but seems to be pretty much over that.

Thank you!

Perhaps there are triggers for Eclipses biting? Birds only bite for a reason. Once you can figure out why they are biting (triggers or for a cause) you can usually avoid them. It's hard trying to figure out the triggers sometimes.

I don't take the birds out often anymore so that's an old pic. They were all clipped when they came to me and we had Echo clipped a few times. That's why we were able to take her out. Now the flights are growing in and I'm trying to harness train them.

I've found that Echo is happier flighted and more confident as well. Theyll just have to get used to wearing a harness or go out in a carrier.

It'll be hard figuring Eclipse out... my husband gives them treats in the morning, and the morning after the daughter incident he went to give Eclipse a morning treat and got bit. Then my son got bit a few times, once drawing a bit of blood.

My birds haven't been clipped since I got them, but today when I had Eclipse out he stayed on the play stand for a bit then flew up onto my pot rack (we were in the kitchen). From there he flew over to the ceiling fan (fortunately wasn't running), the flew back and landed on top of the refrigerator. Do they ever get over confident if they are full winged? He used to grab fingers when he was going to step up and sometimes it was a bit uncomfortable but never an actual bite.

I never took mine outside because I have a bunch of barn cats. They won't bother a chicken chick, but the chicks have a mama chicken to convince a cat to back off. It would be awesome if they could go out!

Echo gets really aggressive when new people come to the house. She's territorial. When my sister comes to visit she'll be aggressive for the entire visit and then a few hours afterwards. Perhaps eclipse is territorial too. I target train and trick train to curve nippy behavior. I do 15 minute sessions. The days I do it they are much more happy and less inclined to nip.

Flighted birds are more confident and that's not bad at all. Recall training and perch training is good when you want him to come back to you if he flies somewhere or if you just want him to stay on the perch.

I'm going to make a foraging tree to keep the birds busy and mentally stimulated to prevent them from flying where they are not allowed.

Are there any good sources to learn how to train the birds? I know that I can find a lot with a web search, but I really would prefer something like a book or something where I can just sit and read. Then perhaps I can get answers to questions that I didn't know that I had and find topics that I will want to explore more in depth.
