Problem with chick

Oversized lots of chicks but never had this happen. I washed him off two days ago but then again today he looked like this. Any advice?

That's called "pasty butt", an affliction of baby chicks usually during the first week. The cause may be from having the brooder too hot. It causes a kind of diarrhea that cakes on the vent, hardening and clogging it so the chick can't poop. The poop backs up inside the chick and will kill it in short order.

Clean it up again and make sure the chick is able to poop. What does the temperature read right under your heat source? If it's over 95F, it's too hot. What does the temp read in the rest of the brooder? If it's 95 F it's way, way too hot. The rest of the brooder needs to be much cooler.

Corn meal mixed with heir feed and using Raw apple cider vinegar, "From the Mother" can really, really help with pasted butt. Best of luck. :)
