Got a bunch of packing peanuts that company claimed were white leghorns BUT at 1 week old their wings are a pale tan not white. Does anyone have pics of WL chicks 1-2 weeks old?

Maybe if you can post pics of them? Either way, from what i have read here on BYC they are often (but not always) likely to be cockerels - which is ok if you want one.

Thanks Junebuggena! Do you know if there's any way to tell what sex they are? I'm hoping a few are pullets since there's 23! What's their disposition like?

Buff Orpingtons have a reputation as being gentle, docile birds. Hens tend to be broody and roosters are well known for being gentle giants. They are good producers of large, medium brown eggs. Orpingtons can be a bit slower to mature, so cockerels aren't usually obvious until after 8 to 10 weeks. Keep an eye out for a darker shade of buff on the wings/shoulder, that's a good early indicator of cockerels.
