Hello All,

I have an older road island red named Hattie, approx 6-7. Over the last week her tail has been starting to go down. Ive been watching her closely and shes been eating and drinking normally. I went out to check on her this morning and she was unable to get up. Her right leg is completely flaccid, no attempted movement at all. I have limited knowledge of chickens and really need some help.

Thank you
My flock is small, my last introduced rooster and hen was October. All other birds besides my Hattie are sick. Please help. This is now day two of her being down :(

She is a production red/red sexlink, not a rhode island red, for 6-7 she is ancient for her breed, giving her a bath will help get the poo off her and while giving her a bath it gives you a chance to feel if she is bloated or if she has any lumps or anything that isn't normal chicken shape, I would bring her in and put her in a sling, with holes for her legs and a poop hole it will help keep her upright.

Shows you how much I know about chickens :( At least I know what breed they are for sure now Thankyou.

So i separated her from the flock, placed her in a small box with food and water. She is still eating and drinking and trying to move.

I have her a bath, cleaned her up and blew dry her feathers out. She had a few white looking bugs right at the end of her tail, and what I think are scabs?

I rigged up a sling and put her in it for the night.

What is my next action plan?

I can't thank you guys enough for the advice!

Thanks
